How to play the refrain (Tasleem) in Samaii Rast Tatios Efendi on Oud, with sheet music and some embellishments. Samaii is one of the instrumental musical forms in the classical Turkish/Ottoman music (normally called Saz Semai) and borrowed into the Arabic music (in Arabic it’s pronounced Sama’i). The Samaii is composed of 4 verses (called Khanat) and one refrain (called Tasleem) that is played after each verse (khana). The refrain (tasleem) and the first verse (khana) are composed around one particular maqam which is part of the name of the Samaii. In this case, it’s maqam Rast. The other verses in the Samaii normally progress through the usual modulations around the main maqam. The Samaii has a fast rhythmical form and is composed around a 10/8 time signature. كيف تعزف التسليم في سماعي راست طاتيوس افندي على العود If you like it, comment, share and subscribe. How to play Doulab Rast (with sheet music) – كيف تعزف دولاب راست مع النوتة
How to play Doulab Rast – كيف تعزف دولاب راست The sheet music is transcribed by me with some slight differences/embellishments in the way I performed it on Oud compared to the way I transcribed it. There is also the end part where it goes downwards from the octave to the tonic which is also my idea and not part of the original composition of this doulab. “Doulab” in Arabic music is a short piece of music that usually repeats itself a few times and helps prepare the singer for the scale that he/she will be singing on and also introduces the audience to the maqam.
